Louboutin & Laduree

July 30, 2009

The beautiful patisserie Laduree, famous for its pastel coloured macaroons is to collaborate with famous shoe designer Christian Louboutin on a selection of gift boxes.  I haven't been to the Burlington Arcade shop yet but it is now on my list of things to do as the macaroons do look truly scrumptious!! Its all very parisian chic which I just adore.

I also learnt that Laduree supplied the treats for Marie Antoinette, now I really want to see the film again!!

Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland

July 30, 2009

Now I am in much, much anticipation for the Alice In Wonderland film to come out next March as I'm sure many of you are.  I've noticed it has been much blogged about.  I just checked out the trailer and almost had heart palpitations!  It looks deliciously dark and delightful!

I rather like the liquorice all-sorts detailing on the mad hatter's neck scarf, I think that's an interesting little touch.

What Katie Did Vintage Inspired Lingerie

July 26, 2009

Now in case you haven't noticed Miss English Rose is a vintage gal through and through, particularly the 40s and 50s.  I think this is mainly to do with the fact that I do not have a 'modern' body shape.  I am not straight up and down and don't fit very well into high street clothes.  I have a small waist and ample bosoms and hips.  I am a women and very glad of this fact.  However I have many gripes with modern underwear, it never seems to fit all that well and doesn't give the best shape to show of my beautiful vintage clothes.  What Katie Did is my saviour, they produce lingerie based on old 1940s/50s patterns.  They aren't as uncomfortable as the under-wired bras you find everywhere now and give the best shape.  I especially like the bullet bras for that sexy Marilyn Monroe tight sweater look! They also do seamed stockings and gorgeous corsets.  If your in London then definitely pop into the boutique in Portobello Road, its divine and the ladies working there are lovely and know what they're talking about. xxxx

Jonas Lofgren

July 23, 2009

Today I was flipping through an old issue of Lula and I came across these Jonas Lofgren illustrations and I remembered how much I love them.  They are so dark yet beautiful with a drop of humour.  They seem to encapsulate the beauty and horror of finding out your a girl becoming a lady.  Thinking you know who you are and know everything about the world, but there is so much to come! xxx

Miss Flapper Girl

July 21, 2009

flapper girl perfume

I am rather in love with the roaring twenties at the moment.  I think its because my hair is slowly growing out of its 1960s twiggy crop and the next place I see it going is a cute 20's bob.  Also the first fancy dress party I can remember attending (I was no older than 10) I dressed up as a flapper girl, obviously a stylish young lady from the get-go! haha, if only you could see my school pictures.  so hopefully soon I will have my little bob with rosy cheeks and dark maroon lips! va-va-voom. Also if I can find the photo of me as a young Miss Flapper Girl I will post it up here. xxxx

Miss Edie Sedgwick

July 20, 2009

Today I pay homage to the one and only Edie.  She was a beauty because she was not beautiful (not generically anyway) She had spirit and fire.  However when I look at photographs of her I can't help but feel a twinge of sadness.  A sadness that seems to have always followed her.  Her untimely death was unfortunate but I can't help but think that she was never meant to live until wrinkles and arthritis overtook her.  Perhaps she new her spirit would never be able to carry on with its same bright, burning light for ever and ever, so let it burn brighter than most for a shorter period of time? Anyway I might watch Factory Girl tonight, I've seen it many times and no matter what the critics say I thought Sienna did a rather lovely job!
