…… please cut me a bit of slack with lame posting on the run up to Christmas as my body clock is still crazy and so much to do in so little time!!!  I had a lovely time away and the sunshine was divine! I think Disney is just about the happiest place in the world….maybe even creepily so! I did start to wonder if all the smiley, happy Americans were really on some form of amphetamine!

Obviously due to my 2 week intense Disney exposure I have to post some Disney inspiration and I must say I really am in love with my British Disney transformations! i.e. Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland!  An extremely well dressed nanny with a charming dash of eccentricity and a little girl with such imagination that none the less still includes a good, old tea party could only be British really.  So I salute their Britishness (is that a word) and thank that Disney never gave Mary Poppins an American accent!  I guess I am feeling rather patriotic after my two weeks away!  I tell you something….I sure missed tea!! Americans just don't do tea! I had to use 3 teabags just to make it brew!. cerrazzy!!!

Firstly, my sincere apologies for being a pretty rubbish blogger the last couple of weeks.  With all this holiday prepping and trying to squeeze as much time in with my sweetheart before I jet off on Saturday I have had little blogging inspiration.

Anyway….. I wanted to share a few images from one of my all time favourite movies, Pleasantville.  I'm sure most of you have seen it and I just love the sweater sets and full skirts! Also  the hair and make-up is pretty good inspiration for an everyday vintage 50s look.  Not only are the clothes amazing but the story is just lovely too and I love the integration of colour into the film as the story progresses.

Charles James

October 1, 2009

With all this fashion week commotion I've found myself rather hankering after the couturiers of yester-year.  I have always very much admired the sheer elegance of Charles James' designs and the eliteness of high fashion and quality.  I love to think of all the girls looking at the beautiful clothes produced by couturiers and then trying to replicate.  A lot more of a lovelier thought than just going down to Topshop to buy the latest replica don't you think?!

This lady does very good vintage hair tutorial videos on You Tube! I found her after reading Elinkan blog (she is just beautiful don't you think!) and I've been going through all her videos this morning and she really knows what she's talking about! Check them out here!  Also check out her blog where she reviews products as gives more handy tips.

Hotel Pelirocco-The Pin-Up Parlour

September 19, 2009

So when we stayed in Brighton last weekend we stayed in the most amazing hotel! It was fabulous, all the rooms are themed around different things.  Of course we had to stay in the pin-up parlour room which is themed around Britain's answer to Marilyn: Diana Dors. Everyone at the hotel was lovely and I think it was very reasonably priced for the room we had.  I would definitely recommend!  I felt like a Hollywood Star!

Margot, Margot, Margot Tenenbaum

August 10, 2009

I adore any Wes Anderson film, but especially The Royal Tenenbaums.  I find Margot one of the most interesting and multi-layered characters.  Love the kohled eyes, sleek hair and fur coat especially!  Also makes me understand completely why it is perceived as 'cool' to smoke, same effect as Audrey with her cigarette holder in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
